A portfolio approach to AI education
Brown’s AI education offerings are intentionally structured to serve professionals at different stages of their AI journey.
The Applied AI & Data Science course focuses on the technical foundations of AI, data science and machine learning, equipping participants with hands-on skills to analyze data, build models and understand how AI systems work in practice.
The newly launched Human-Centered AI course takes a complementary approach, focusing on leadership, ethics and organizational impact. Designed for executives, managers and professionals who influence how AI is introduced, governed and communicated, the course emphasizes responsible decision-making, human judgment and ethical frameworks alongside technological innovation.
Together, the two courses provide a more complete pathway for professionals seeking to build both technical fluency and leadership capability in the age of AI.
Human-Centered AI: Integrating Technology & Human Potential
Human-Centered AI is a live, online course built for working professionals navigating AI-driven change. Across six interactive sessions, participants engage directly with faculty and peers to explore how AI affects people, teams and organizational systems.
Rather than focusing on tools or code, the course centers on questions leaders are already facing:
- How do you build trust in AI-enabled decisions?
- How do you communicate responsibly about AI’s role in the workplace?
- How do ethics, governance and human values shape long-term success?
Participants leave with practical frameworks to guide AI adoption thoughtfully, reduce resistance and align technology with organizational goals.
Preparing leaders for what comes next
By expanding its AI education portfolio, Brown University aims to support professionals across disciplines — from technical specialists to senior leaders — as AI reshapes industries and institutions.
Whether learners are looking to deepen their technical expertise through Applied AI & Data Science or strengthen their leadership approach through Human-Centered AI, the portfolio reflects Brown’s broader mission: combining rigorous scholarship with real-world impact.
