Yes. A valid Brown ID is required to enter all Brown-owned and Brown-occupied buildings. The School of Professional Studies occupies the 4th and 5th floors of 225 Dyer Street. Access to these floors is granted via card swipe for any student or affiliated faculty who has requested access and holds a valid Brown ID; visitors without a Brown ID or valid access swipe must be let in by staff they are visiting in the space.

If you are coming in as part of a group of students to attend a class, an event, or to study everyone in your party should have a valid swipe access. If they do not, please scan a QR code on the entry door (signs are also posted throughout the building) to request access. Your request will be reviewed by staff and access will be granted within 2-3 business days.

Guests, meeting attendees, vendors and other authorized visitors may continue to be granted access by members of the Brown community who have permission to grant access to the specific space, as normal, and Brown community members should plan to greet and escort guests in those instances. Uncredentialed or uninvited individuals should not be granted access. Community members with Brown ID cards should not prop open any doors and/or allow anyone who is not authorized to enter.

There are cameras both inside and outside of the building that are fully functional and turned on. An Allied Security guard will continue to be present at the reception desk after hours and on weekends in addition to the building security located in the lobby.
