Biography

Why did you choose this Master's program?
I was looking for a program that would help me step back from my daily routine and provide a framework for developing my own leadership style as I moved into the second half of my career. What drew me to MTL was the interdisciplinary approach to the curriculum and the faculty that would be leading our development.

What made Brown's program different from other programs you considered?
A lot of programs focus on just one area—business, finance, data, or leadership—but Brown brought these elements together in a way that felt well-rounded and practical. It was designed for working professionals, which meant I could truly engage with the material and apply what I was learning in real time. That balance made all the difference.

What did you enjoy most about your program?
The people. Learning from my classmates and seeing things through their perspectives was one of the best parts of the experience. Brown did a fantastic job of bringing together a diverse cohort—people from different industries, career stages, and backgrounds—which made the discussions incredibly rich. The program team also listened to our feedback, making sure we had a voice in shaping the experience. That kind of collaboration made the program even more valuable.

What was your primary academic area of interest?
My primary focus is driving meaningful change through effective leadership and planning. Throughout my career, I had stumbled through change management, and I wanted to deepen my understanding and develop a more structured approach. The program allowed me to apply my professional experiences to the coursework and refine a model that fit my strengths.

What were your postgraduate goals?
My capstone project focused on sustainability and environmental challenges that my company and industry are facing. My goal through the program was to learn how to find the intersection between business strategy and social responsibility and try to chart a path that could help us navigate a carbon constrained future.

What did you like most about Providence?
Before joining the program, I hadn’t spent much time in New England, but Providence turned out to be an incredible city to explore. The food scene, boutique shops, and rich history made it a great backdrop for the program. It’s a city that offers both inspiration and charm—an ideal setting for a memorable learning experience.

What advice would you give to prospective applicants?
Invest in yourself and your classmates. Be ready to be challenged, to step outside your comfort zone, and to engage in meaningful dialogue. This program isn’t about memorizing a textbook or case study—it’s about refining your thinking, pushing your boundaries, and learning to lead in your own way.
