Giordano-Perez has always been driven to help others, even from a young age. Growing up in poverty and frequent homelessness, he knew firsthand the struggles that many families faced. As a teenager, he started a 501c3 organization called Operation Happy Birthday (OHB) to host parties for children living in homeless centers and provide tutoring and mentoring services in group homes.

His journey at Brown University began as an undergraduate student concentrating in community health. After completing his degree in 2008, he went on to become a Brown medical student, earning his M.D. in 2013. During that time he often joined former President Ruth Simmons at various events, inspiring others with his story of resilience and the founding of OHB. Prior to entering the Warren Alpert Medical School, he spent over a year in Haiti as the public health director for an orphanage of 600 children, where he helped design and implement programs to eradicate bedbugs, treat tuberculosis, and improve hygiene and nutrition.

After becoming a physician specializing in family medicine with expertise in public health, LGBTQ+ care and infectious disease, Giordano-Perez continued to focus on serving vulnerable populations, including those living with HIV, Hepatitis C, and substance use disorders, as well as sexual and gender minority individuals. He ran two federally qualified health centers in Rhode Island, providing care for patients of all backgrounds regardless of their ability to pay.

In recent years, his work has focused on HIV prevention and caring for LGBTQ+ individuals. He became the LGBTQ+ physician consultant for four Rhode Island public school districts, providing training on anti-LGBTQ+ bullying and how to create safe and affirming spaces for sexual and gender minority individuals. He was also awarded grant funding to start the state's first and only free same-day PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) program.

In an effort to increase his knowledge of business-related topics and better understand how to lead within complex organizations, Giordano-Perez enrolled in the IE Brown Executive MBA program in March 2022. During his studies, he has been an extraordinary student, adding value to the learning experience and deeply connecting with his cohort.
