Could ICE Get the Fingerprints of Nannies and Teachers? (Comments by Timothy Edgar)

Acting ICE Director Tom Homan wants to increase the amount of time ICE officers spend investigating employment websites and auditing worker forms which could mean tapping into FBI background checks for nannies and other workers in America.

Commenting on this statement, Executive Master in Cybersecurity Academic Director, Global Cyber Challenges Timothy Edgar said:

“No one who is submitting fingerprints to the FBI for these kinds of background checks is expecting that they are going to be used by a different agency for immigration enforcement.”

He continued,

“I think the best way to just basically blow up an information sharing program is to start using it for regular civil immigration enforcement.”
