Why did you choose this Master's program?
Having spent years innovating and marketing advanced technologies (streaming media, speech recognition and synthesis, natural language understanding, artificial intelligence), I realized that the key to unlocking organizational value wasn't solely in the innovations companies produce, but in the target customer's ability to absorb those innovations and transform them to business advantage. This program seemed, and the cohort it attracted, reflected the perspective of organizational leverage in a novel and useful way.
What made Brown's program different from other programs you considered?
MTL had a unique combination of human-centered design, technology, and advanced leadership curricular content, and professors steeped in their respective domains. That combination of 'content + delivery' was unique across the Master's programs I researched.
What did you enjoy most about your program?
Cohort experience. Professor expertise...the depth professors brought to their speciality was inspiring. Curricular content, which, as noted above, was unique across master's programs I've researched.
What was your primary academic area of interest?
AI in education.
What were your postgraduate goals?
Help K-12 school districts better adopt new AI-powered learning innovations both from teaching perspectives (i.e., how AI can improve the lives of teachers) and student perspectives (how AI can deliver deeper, reinforced learning, especially for kids playing 'catch up' to grade level instruction).
What did you like most about Providence?
It's a sweet New England town with lots of restaurants...and the Brown campus has a real Ivy League feel.
What advice would you give to prospective applicants?
Be prepared to jump in! The cohort experience is only as rich as each cohortmate invests in it to be. Because MTL was a professional degree, there is more to learn from cohortmate engagement than even the classes can deliver.
