Carving a new path for leadership education

As he steps into his new role at SPS, Prasad says he is excited about developing workshops focused on leadership training and integrating his humanities interests with his management background, particularly in discussions around technology strategy.

When asked what qualities Prasad believes are essential for effective leadership, he stated,

“ The most important quality that any leader should have is humility. Because without humility, we stop learning. It is only when we say, 'I do not know' that we start to learn. Never stop being a student. ”

Prasad also emphasized the importance of agility in leadership: “You need to be extremely agile, and it's not just a need of today because of the fast-changing environment, but agility in terms of being able to be flexible in your thinking has always marked leadership. That ability to move between different kinds of plans is very, very important for a leader."

Prasad believes that leaders must be adaptable to change while fostering a humane approach in their leadership styles and aims to instill these qualities in his students. He plans to incorporate real-world case studies and simulations into his courses to provide students with practical experience in navigating organizational challenges.

Upon joining SPS, Prasad shared the following two goals:

  1. Creating Humane Leaders: Cultivate students who have a humane approach in leadership, in addition to being efficient and result-oriented.
  2. Fostering Adaptive Capacity: Instill the ability for leaders to adapt to changing circumstances, which is considered crucial in effective leadership.

Incorporating these principles, Prasad aims to bring a holistic perspective to leadership education at SPS, leveraging Brown University’s strong humanities tradition to equip leaders for the complexities of the modern world.
