Candidates to the online Master's in Organizational Leadership hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and are working professionals with at least three years of professional employment.

Official Transcripts: Required. All applicants may upload unofficial transcripts for application submission. Official transcripts are ONLY required for enrolling students prior to starting their first semester.
Letters of Recommendations: (3) Required. Letters must be written in English and come from employers/supervisors or faculty members or other individuals well acquainted with your professional or academic work.
Personal Statement: In 1500 words or less, describe your motivation for pursuing the online master’s in organizational leadership, articulate your short and long term career goals and how this program will help you achieve them, and discuss how your background has prepared you to pursue an advanced degree. Additionally, share why you feel Brown is the right fit for your goals and what you will contribute to our community of learners.
Resume/CV: Required. Applicants are required to have at least three years of professional employment. This program is ideally suited for working professionals.

All international applicants whose native language is not English must submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score.
Proficiency exams are not required for applicants who have earned a degree from an institution where English is the sole language of instruction or from a university in one of the following countries: Australia, Bahamas, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada (except Quebec), Ethiopia, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Gambia, Uganda, United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales), West Indies or Zambia.
For TOEFL iBT exams taken on or before January 20, 2026, the minimum score is 90.
For TOEFL iBT exams taken on or after January 21, 2026, the minimum score is 4.5.
For IELTS, the minimum score is 7.0.

An international transcript evaluation (WES, ECE, or SpanTran) is required for degrees from non-U.S. institutions. International transcript evaluations are required for application submission.

Degree Recognition
We advise prospective students interested in a Brown University degree to determine whether the degree will be recognized in the student’s country of residence and/or any country in which the student intends to work. Some countries may not formally recognize foreign online degrees, which may impact the ability to later enroll in other educational programs or to seek employment with a government employer or other employers requiring specific credentials.
Restrictions and Licensing Requirements
To comply with OFAC restrictions and licensing requirements, Brown University currently does not offer online programs to individuals physically located in the following areas: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Please note that this limitation is location based, as well as applies to all citizens of these countries, regardless of location, who are ordinarily resident in these countries.

The online master’s in organizational leadership offers limited merit-based scholarships covering up to 50% of tuition costs. All applicants will be reviewed for eligibility and no additional application is required.
Make your case for employer sponsorship and tuition assistance
Brown University will match your employer’s tuition assistance for this program, dollar-for-dollar up to 20% of tuition. For example, if your employer provides 50% tuition assistance, Brown will match 20%. This offer cannot be combined with any other scholarship offered by Brown.
To participate, you will be required to submit official documentation from your employer to online_masters@brown.edu after you have received your offer of admission for the program.
