Direct access to renowned faculty

Brown is home to some of the world’s foremost experts on healthcare, public policy, health economics, and evidence-based medicine. As an MHL student, these experts serve as your instructors — helping you develop knowledge and skills through personal interaction and a robust curriculum.

  • Study today's most pressing health issues with which faculty have expertise, such as COVID-19, the opioid crisis and inequities in healthcare access and outcomes.
  • Benefit from our faculty’s ongoing work thanks to our $64 million in external funding for cutting-edge research and innovative interventions — a figure that places Brown in the Top 10 public health schools for NIH funding.

Convenient curriculum delivery

As you progress through your MHL program, you’ll complete your coursework online and through in-person residencies.

  • Watch and interact with faculty-created interactive multimedia, faculty-recorded lectures and demonstrations, expert/guest lecture videos, and case studies. Online classes will be delivered asynchronously, allowing you to complete the work on your schedule.
  • Residencies allow you to learn and collaborate with your faculty and peers in-person. You will strengthen your network and the skills vital for advancing your business and career.

Case-based coursework, contemporary application

In each online MHL course, you’ll examine specific, real-world health scenarios — strengthening your leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills as you generate solutions to current health issues. You will take classes on value creation, quality improvement, health law and policy. Other benefits of this diverse curriculum include:

  • Tapping into the expertise of Brown faculty who actively research and teach these issues.
  • Enhance your own point of view through the distinct perspectives and insights gained from your diverse classmates.
  • Strengthen your sense of community through regular collaboration — online and in-person.
