Wrapping Up a Busy Week at EMSTL – Cohort ’19 Nears Beginning as ’18 Nears End; a Cognizant CTO Joins Advisory Committee

We are excited to announce that the Executive Master in Science and Technology Leadership (EMSTL) program just finalized its second student cohort!

The EMSTL class of 2019 is comprised of 25 accomplished professionals working in more than 11 industries in various science and technology functions. This new cohort of students is already busy completing their online pre-work as they prepare to arrive on campus for their first residential session on March 4th. Please join us in welcoming these professionals to the learning community at Brown.

We also announced the addition of Bryan Hill to EMSTL’s Advisory Committee. As CTO of Life Sciences at Cognizant, Hill’s focus is on identifying how emerging digital technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) and others can help life sciences companies increase innovation in clinical development to bring new therapies to market faster. We are excited to have Hill as part of EMSTL’s distinguished Advisory Committee.

For EMSTL’s Class of 2018, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Just back from the experiential session in South Korea, cohort members are getting ready for graduation this May. As the second cohort started their studies online this past January, EMSTL’s first cohort embarked to Seoul, South Korea for their third residential session.

Students were joined by a small delegation from Brown including Karen Sibley and other program leaders and faculty. While in Korea, students attended lectures from professors at the Graduate Business School at Sungkyunkwan University and visited several technology companies, such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, Korea Telecom. The immersive experience was part of their curriculum on Global Value Creation.
