Smith is responsible for advancing the School of Professional Studies’ engagement with industry leaders in support of the development of new models of academic programs that can meet the needs of a rapidly changing knowledge-based workforce.

Smith is a business leader and strategy consultant with over 20 years of experience and a record of bringing new products and services to market for Fortune 500 companies. Her consulting work at Catalyst Strategies, Recon Strategy and The Boston Consulting Group primarily focused on growth strategies for leading technology and services companies. Her former clients include executives at Agilent, Blue Cross Blue Shield, EBay, Hewlett Packard and Intuit. She also served as Director of Advised Services at Charles Schwab where she launched and managed solutions for their largest customer segment while overseeing technology platform development, marketing, sales, operations, and other functional areas.

In 2015, Smith helped to lead the development and launch of Brown’s Executive Master in Science and Technology Leadership (EMSTL) program and has served as its inaugural Program Director. Smith earned a BS with honors and MS in industrial engineering from University of Toronto and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Sandra’s impressive career and leadership at the intersection of business and academia makes her the ideal candidate to drive the next evolution of Brown’s executive programming. She understands Brown’s unique value to professional education for leadership in today’s rapidly evolving and increasingly digitally-driven industries and will bring talent within the University together to develop programming aligned to Brown’s Building on Distinction strategies.
